Do I truly need to give voice to thoughts you must surely already know without hearing them? I would rather spare us both.
I had, in truth, wished to ask your opinion on a matter that has been bothering me since my arrival. Assuming, of course, that you are willing to give it.
Very well, then. It is only thoughts I seek, as I don't expect you to have much in the way of facts on this matter.
I am concerned by the seemingly concurrent yet varying timelines we have run into and the ability of LIES to touch each one... if not, apparently, with any precision. Does it not have you wonder how many such timelines exist?
[It's partially a poke to remind Emet-Selch that he has done nothing to his own Warrior of Light, but mostly because he's been thinking far too much on this matter and the perspective of an ancient being might prove somehow helpful.]
What knowledge I have did not prepare me for what I have found here.
...'tis more that I find the potential of infinite timelines and infinite possibilities somehow all existing at once fascinating. It does give me cause to wonder how societies long past may have progressed had they not fallen, how the land might have been shaped differently... I had a thought to ask one who had seen it themselves what possibilities they might have once imagined. No amount of study can teach me what you have seen.
[Sorry Emet-Selch, but the Exarch is and always will be a massive history nerd.]
Though it is surely an inadvisable question to ask of one with such distaste for mankind, still I am curious.
[ A sigh from him. He supposes he can humour them and not make snide remarks for once. ]
You have already glimpsed one example of this. I explained to you the nature of the Source and its thirteen reflections, yes? I'm sure you also noticed how the geography and terrain of the First Shard was remarkably similar to that which can be found on the Source. La Noscea and Kholusia; Thanalan and Amh Araeng; the Shroud and the Greatwood - before the Flood which annihilated all lands beyond Norvrandt, you could say the First had been an example of how the Source may have looked had its numerous calamities not torn the land apart. It was virtually untouched beyond the usual strife and rampant terraforming its people engaged in.
Each of the other shards is or was the same. Some are more advanced and would be alien to you and yours. Others have destroyed themselves over and over and remain primitive. However, to go further and acknowledge that there appear to be reflections of the reflections we do know is quite beyond anything my people once theorised over. Oh, there were debates, but before Terminus 'twas little more than a thought experiment for bored philosophers.

His voice is terse. ]
Out with it. What accusations would you level against me?

You may ask but I will not promise an answer.

I rather thought you were the supposed expert on time travel and exponential worlds here, Exarch.
[ He manages to not sound accusatory while saying it. It's a trifle bitter though. And flat. ]
Do you worry about the Creator's power? Or are you concerned about the myriad of potential timelines that you may have failed to save?
