Oh, jeez, there are so many places where the three of them intersect and then diverge. But they've been fighting over land which is sacred to all three of them for a very long time and over whose interpretation of events is the right one for so long.
Well, if there's one thing my world isn't short on, it's moral hubris.
Yeah, all three sides are big into converting people who aren't one of them into becoming one of them. Christianity and Islam in particular. And both of them swear up and down that people who don't belong to one group or the other will go to Hell. Lake of fire, eternal torment, etc.
It's not that it would be shameful, but the entire world would wind up dependent on a couple of people who could use magic. I don't think that would be healthy, for the people or for the world.
With age comes the realisation that one has a responsibility to the world they live in that supercedes one's ego. Being able to chart the results of your actions makes you less predisposed to act out on impulse, knowing that YOU will bear responsibility should aught go wrong.
'Tis a fine thing to chant about change and hope and all that idyllic nonsense, but quite another to be there to see it through.
That sounds like some really heavy stuff. How long does it usually take to get to that point? Of taking responsibility if something you do turns out wrong?
Yeah, I know that much. My world is always trying to be better, but it never seems to follow through on it.
I am a poor comparison to measure by, but I would say it can take anywhere from two or three centuries for one to begin to grasp that the effect of some careless action taken prior can have lasting repercussions. Some may take longer to arrive at this realisation. Others may quickly grasp it.
I once saw a poor fool attempt to call the rain to water the city gardens. Their haste caused a drought on the neighbouring continent.'Twas difficult to reverse the damage.
Yikes. Two or three centuries. There's no way for any of us back home to live that long. One hundred years if we're lucky and even then, it's possible that our minds would give up twenty years before that.
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want anyone on my world to have magic. They'd be pulling crazy stunts like that all the time.
Indeed. Such is why I believe you short-lived people to be poor custodians of any liveable star. Not only because of your short lives but your short memories and inability to comprehend time on a grander scale.

I would have liked to meet the origin of three vastly different religions. They seem to have left quite the influence on your world.

Does this god of theirs encourage conflict? If not, then they already show themselves to not be true believers.

You are quite sure there is no magic in your world?

Of course if there was, they'd probably have to keep it a secret.

Good grief. This is exactly what I hate about your short lives.
