His breath catches. He grips Hythlodaeus' robes tightly, feeling heat rise to his eyes once more.

"Please," he whispers. "There is nothing left for me in my time. I would look upon our city at least one last time if I can."

To see a city of life rather than a city of wraiths. He is so homesick he can hardly bear it.

"I wish I had known how you felt back then. We could have had so much more time..."
